Chrome extension · in development

Your 10,000 saved tabs,
finally safe.

Built for people who outgrew OneTab and Session Buddy. Versioned backups that live outside your browser, and search that stays fast at five figures.

Migrate in from OneTab or Session Buddy — even if the extension has stopped loading your list. Planned

Why your tabs disappeared

Most tab savers keep everything in one place: the extension's storage inside your browser profile. That's fine for a few dozen tabs. At thousands, a single storage problem can take the whole list with it.

01

One copy, one place

If the extension's local storage is corrupted, cleared, or the profile breaks, there's no second copy to fall back to.

02

Scale makes it harder

Very large lists are slower to load and export, and moving them between tools or machines is more likely to fail partway.

03

Backups are manual

Exports exist, but only if you remember to make them. Most people find out the day they need one.

This isn't unique to any one tool. OneTab's own troubleshooting page documents recovery steps for situations like these — worth reading if you use it today.

Features

A second copy.
Every day. Automatically.

TabVault is in development. Everything below is planned and will ship before or at launch unless noted otherwise.

Versioned daily backups Planned

A dated snapshot every day, kept outside the browser so a broken profile can't take it with it.

Local backup file Planned

Plain, readable backup files saved to a folder on your computer. Open them with or without TabVault.

Your own Google Drive Planned

Optional off-device copy in your Drive. Only files TabVault creates; we never hold your tabs.

Fast search at 10k+ Planned

Search titles and URLs across every list and snapshot, designed to stay instant past ten thousand tabs.

Import from OneTab & Session Buddy Planned

Bring in exports — and, where data is still on disk, lists the original extension can no longer show.

Restore any day Planned

Roll back to any snapshot in one click, with groups preserved.

Privacy

Your tabs never
touch our servers.

We don't store your tabs. Data lives in your browser, on your disk, and optionally in your own Google Drive. Here's what we plan to ask for, and why.

tabs

Read the titles and URLs of open tabs so they can be saved and restored.

storage

Keep your lists and snapshots locally in your browser.

drive.file

Optional. Access only the backup files TabVault creates in your Drive, nothing else.

Final permissions will be listed on the Chrome Web Store page at launch.

FAQ

Questions

When will TabVault be available?

It's in development. Join the waitlist and we'll email you once it's on the Chrome Web Store.

I have 10,000+ tabs in OneTab. Will this handle it?

That's who it's being built for. Import, search and backups are designed and tested around lists in the tens of thousands.

My OneTab / Session Buddy list won't load. Can TabVault recover it?

Planned: TabVault will try to read data the original extension left on disk. Recovery depends on that data still existing, so we can't promise it in every case. Keeping a backup is the real fix — that's what TabVault automates.

Where do backups go?

To a local file on your computer and, if you turn it on, to your own Google Drive. We don't run a server that stores your tabs.

How much will the Founder lifetime license cost?

Not decided yet. It will be a one-time payment, and waitlist members will hear the price first.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome first. Other Chromium browsers such as Edge and Brave are planned.
