Built for people who outgrew OneTab and Session Buddy. Versioned backups that live outside your browser, and search that stays fast at five figures.
Migrate in from OneTab or Session Buddy — even if the extension has stopped loading your list. Planned
Most tab savers keep everything in one place: the extension's storage inside your browser profile. That's fine for a few dozen tabs. At thousands, a single storage problem can take the whole list with it.
If the extension's local storage is corrupted, cleared, or the profile breaks, there's no second copy to fall back to.
Very large lists are slower to load and export, and moving them between tools or machines is more likely to fail partway.
Exports exist, but only if you remember to make them. Most people find out the day they need one.
This isn't unique to any one tool. OneTab's own troubleshooting page documents recovery steps for situations like these — worth reading if you use it today.
TabVault is in development. Everything below is planned and will ship before or at launch unless noted otherwise.
A dated snapshot every day, kept outside the browser so a broken profile can't take it with it.
Plain, readable backup files saved to a folder on your computer. Open them with or without TabVault.
Optional off-device copy in your Drive. Only files TabVault creates; we never hold your tabs.
Search titles and URLs across every list and snapshot, designed to stay instant past ten thousand tabs.
Bring in exports — and, where data is still on disk, lists the original extension can no longer show.
Roll back to any snapshot in one click, with groups preserved.
We don't store your tabs. Data lives in your browser, on your disk, and optionally in your own Google Drive. Here's what we plan to ask for, and why.
tabsRead the titles and URLs of open tabs so they can be saved and restored.
storageKeep your lists and snapshots locally in your browser.
drive.fileOptional. Access only the backup files TabVault creates in your Drive, nothing else.
Final permissions will be listed on the Chrome Web Store page at launch.
No subscription planned. A free version, plus a one-time Founder lifetime license for early supporters.

That's who it's being built for. Import, search and backups are designed and tested around lists in the tens of thousands.
Planned: TabVault will try to read data the original extension left on disk. Recovery depends on that data still existing, so we can't promise it in every case. Keeping a backup is the real fix — that's what TabVault automates.
To a local file on your computer and, if you turn it on, to your own Google Drive. We don't run a server that stores your tabs.
Not decided yet. It will be a one-time payment, and waitlist members will hear the price first.
